It's a Zoo Out There!

We took a visit to the zoo in celebration of Chloe's 3rd Birthday. Bridgette got a lot more out of it this year... maybe.
Lazy Tigers.

Taking a break to hug Dan.

Her frrravorite zoo attraction- the wondering peacocks. Good thing (for the bird) there was a fence there.

Bridgette had the best view from right there.

Had to sit on the elephant.

Racing to get a prime seat on the carousel.

Yeah man, I got the zebra. Whatcha gonna do about it.

Life Since Dec.

I haven't posted in so long! That's how interesting our life has been, not really. I'll try to remember some highlights and of course post lots of photos (eventually, Dan has the computer will all the Holiday pics.) Photos are how I remember what in the world takes up all my time.

Last year was our last Christmas in Eagle Mountain. We lived there for four years and really miss our house, but Dan is going back to school full time, so we decided to move closer in to civilization. We rented out our house & are living in a nice sized condo close to UVU.

Back to Christmas though. This was actually our first & last Christmas in that house, we have always traveled for the holidays, but it was just easier to stay home. We had a few family parties leading up to the holiday which made things feel more festive.

Christmas Day we just made a huge breakfast of chocolate (thanks to Santa) pancakes, bacon, sausage and Tums. Our most exciting gift was the Kinnect for Xbox, which we played most of the day. Bridgette got a fancy schmancy kitchen that she hardly plays with, Dan got the essentials (workout clothes, socks etc) and I got some cute boots, and 5 lbs that I've been trying to take back since Christmas.

Since the new year began, we've been getting settled into our new place. Dan has been swamped with school work, which is challenging but enjoyable. I've been dedicated to returning my 5 lbs to where ever they came from; I've been going to the gym @ 6am, 4-5 days a week, with the exception of last week, but more about that later.

Recently Dan has been offered a position as a team leader summer sales in Denver. It was an offer he just couldn't refuse, so we'll be headed there from May-August. I'm excited for a little change, I've heard Denver is beautiful & fun.

The last two weeks have been crazy around these parts! We're all settled in to our new house and Bridgette gets the stomach flu, her first real sickness. My poor baby threw up about eight times in a two hour time period and continued to have upset tummy for two weeks. Meanwhile I get a more abbreviated, but intense, version of her illness (the reason I missed the gym last week.)

Just when we thought it was all better, Friday night my girl just wouldn't go to sleep! She spent, literally, the entire night pacing the floor screaming at my face. The way Bridgy was acting, I thought she was going to have an alien pop out of her belly! It was very traumatic for me, I felt like the worst mother. As soon as the sun came up, I was at the Dr.'s office. Sure enough-- ear infection in both ears. No one ever warned me of this. So all you first time Mom's- if your kid goes ballistic--ear infection.

Well, this post will satisfy all you ADD readers out there. For anyone who likes cohesion to their stories, sorry to disappoint (and I've also probably disappointed any grammar freaks too.)

Hope everyone out there has had a Merry Christmas, Happy New Year, Lovely Valentine's & Superior Presidents' Day.

Temple Square!

Chances are, if you've ever lived in Utah, you've visited Temple Square during the holidays.

It's so beautiful this time of year, which is one reason we chose to get married there four years ago (Thursday.) The temple itself is a piece of art- the craftsmanship is impeccable. I'm so glad we chose to go Monday, the temperature was around 50 degrees and nearly no wind. Usually it's bitter cold this time of year.

It was Bridgette's 1st visit to Temple Square. She seemed pretty amazed by all the lights and people. We let her walk around the tabernacle (where the "tabernacle" in "Mormon Tabernacle Choir" comes from) , and it was so funny trying to watch her walk down the aisles because they're on a decline, like a ramp.

Here are a few pics of the night:

Here comes Santa Claus!!!

My Uncle Jim & Aunt Sue ( my mom's brother) have thrown a Christmas Party every year since I've been in Utah (I think there's always been a Christmas Party, but I didn't live here...)

This was Dan & Bridgette's first time partying with the Johnsons... Here are some photos of the crazy night:

My Grandma Johnson & Bridgette (who was overwhelmed by all the new friends!)

My Grandma teaching the little ones about the true meaning of all the Christmas symbols.

Santa (Uncle Dwayne) Claus took Christmas Orders. Here is Daphne saying she wants a kitty. Good luck Daph !
Here's Phil Phil with Santa (Phil spilled hot chocolate on his shirt & tried to disguise his accident by rolling his shirt up to his chin... he ALMOST got away with it!)

Bonnie's little Chloe & Adam. Chloe doesn't trust the man in red, so London had to supervise, just in case Santa tried to look at her wrong.
Bridgette thinking, "Hmmm, this guy is alright. Anyone who just hands over candy is ok in my book."

Now she's not so sure, "one move towards my candy cane & you're gonna get it!"

I'm so glad I got to attend the party this year. It's always so great to see my grandparents! They always sent the sweetest Christmas presents to my family when we were little. I always looked forward to see what grandma would send & how it was wrapped (she had the ZCMI people wrap them I think.) I love my grandparents!

It was also fun to see my cousins and all their cute little babies. I can't believe how fast time flies & how quickly all these little ones grow!

I am so thankful for this time of year where we can take a step back & realize that this is what it's all about. I may not get a visit from Santa, but I am sure going to throw/ attend as many family & friend get-togethers as possible! I love being around my family & don't realize how much I miss seeing them until a week/month/year goes by & I see them and get sad that I don't see them more often!

Once There Was a Snowman

We've lived in this house for four years and this is the first time we've played in the snow out here.

Bridgy & Dan decided our front yard needed a little pep, so they added a little Frosty.

No coal, but black grapes work just as well. Bridgy lent Frosty her "Ta-Da" hat, but she had a hard time handing that carrot over. I thought she & Frosty were gonna brawl over the carrot, but she relented.

Peace Out.

Thanksgiving Trip!

Yay for getaways!

For Thanksgiving we ducked all the major snowstorms & went to Nevada. The weather was very cooperative; we jogged nearly everyday, played tennis & soccer. It was so fun to have my younger brother & sister and their families stay at my parents' home as well. We stayed up late playing games & laughing so hard I cried! I love that!

For Thanksgiving Dinner we were joined by my older brothers Scott, Nathan and Danny and their families. It's always so fun to hang out and chat with my brothers who I rarely see. Nathan was all dressed up in a turtleneck & some fancy pants, I thought to myself, "Wow, this is a new style for Nater." Then I realized, "DUH, he's in his police uniform!" He's a local police officer & was able to eat with us, it's so nice that he can do that!

Here are a bunch of photos of the week:
